It's Summer Time

Yesterday, we hit the first day of summer and that meant the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere occurred.  This is where the sun is at it's highest peak in the sky as seen from the north pole.

And what does that mean for us?  The longest period of day light.  For us here, that meant we had about 16 hours of daylight.  So nice...and today? We start to head the other way and loosing about 2 seconds of daylight and this loss will get faster over the next several months.

But we don't have to worry about that right now.  It's all about enjoying the summer and getting out and doing the things that you love to do outside.

What says summer more than birds and flowers.  So that is what I am sharing today.  Actually this will be a Make and Take for my open house this weekend.

  2. Yo, Ho, Di, Oh! Winter is leaving here soon as we celebrate the Winter Solstice here Karen. Our town puts on a spectacular Lantern Parade tomoorow night which is something to behold.
You are so right Summmer is about the birds and the flowers, getting outdoors and having fun. That's the feeling your card evokes.

  3. A lovely combination of colours and patterns on this card.

  4. Karen what a pretty summer time card! Love your embossing and the colors are lovely.
Just returned from my grandkids visit and summer is difinitely arrived! it was high 90's everyday... thank goodness for the incredible breeze they had for days ! I would have melted. hugs.

  5. Beautiful color combo and love the embossing. I love summer, just wish it didn't hit almost 100 here :)

  6. What a beautiful color combination Karen. Your card is just gorgeous! We are on our shortest days of winter here in the Southern Hemisphere. 16 hours of daylight is hard to imagine as is 24hrs of it or a whole day of darkness as experienced at either the North or South Pole. I love summer and the extended daylight hours here! I do hope you enjoy your summer! xx
